JAHORINA, September 7 (FENA) - A representative of UNICEF in BiH Nela Kačmarčik, as a participant of the two-day Interactive Workshop "The Media for a Happy Childhood", organized by UNICEF in BiH, with the support of the European Union Delegation to BiH, which concluded today in Jahorina, said that the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina must raise the awareness of citizens that violence against children is completely unacceptable, that physical punishment of children is harmful and that it is necessary to find alternatives for disciplining children that do not imply violent methods.

Kačmarčik also pointed out that the inclusion of every child, including children with disabilities, is a natural thing that should be the onset point for having a society that is richer, because there are different people with different abilities in it.

She emphasized that the primary focus of the workshop is to provide a framework for creating a strong media community gathered around the "Happy Childhood" campaign, followed by understanding the goals that the campaign seeks to tackle and discussing the subject matter of media reporting on child protection issues.

“The media need to talk about abilities, not limitations. The media can influence the public to openly and in different manner speak about these topics and give them more attention through a more interesting content,” she stressed.

Kačmarčik said that the "Happy Childhood" campaign consists of two separate campaigns - "Happy Child Guardians" and "Champion of Inclusion".

The "Happy Childhood" campaign announced a call for the participation of individuals and groups who need to present interesting ideas in an interesting way to help children have a happy childhood, which will be financially supported, while the "Champions of Inclusion" campaign will award the people who help solving problems.

The interactive conference was attended by journalists, editors, bloggers, freelancers, as well as experts from the system of child rights protection with a focus on the protection of children from violence and the promotion of social inclusion of children with disabilities.
