Mountain Rescue Service proposes EU solutions for the legal framework in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 11(FENA) - A delegation of the Mountain Rescue Service in BiH (GSS in BiH) informed the representatives of the European Commission of the difficulties, obstacles and shortcomings that the existing legal framework for protection and rescue puts before mountain rescue services and has proposed solutions, in accordance with experiences and legal regulations in the countries of the European Union.

“The legal framework, in which mountain rescue services, as non-governmental organizations, have the public authority to conduct rescue operations on inaccessible terrain, is also the most effective future legal framework for protection and rescue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This legal framework is used by most EU countries,” it is emphasized by the GSS in BiH.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the GSS in BiH presented to the representatives of the European Commission their activities in protection and rescue operations. They also discussed the current status and role of the mountain rescue service in the civil protection system in BiH.
