SARAJEVO, September 11 (FENA) - "We welcome today’s adoption of the changes and amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) by the BiH House of Peoples,” said the European Union Delegation/EUSR in a statement issued in agreement with the EU Heads of Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With today's outcome, political parties have shown readiness to take important decisions in the interest of citizens based on compromise, and undertake efforts to implement the BiH Constitutional Court decisions.
The adoption of the law by the BiH House of Representatives before the October elections would demonstrate the necessary political will and commitment for Bosnia and Herzegovina to act as a credible partner of the European Union and its Member States in fighting serious crime and ensuring public security.
The aligning of the CPC with international and European standards is essential for the ability of rule of law institutions to conduct sensitive investigations and cooperate with international law enforcement agencies.
This is of great importance for BiH's further progress on its way towards the EU, it is said in the statement of the EUD to BiH.
