OHR calls on HoR to adopt amendments to Criminal Procedure Code of BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 12 (FENA) - The Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (OHR) welcomed the unanimous adoption of amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (BiH PA).

“Showing an effort and good will from all sides, we consider this adoption an important contribution to supporting the rule of law and the fight against corruption,” told FENA the OHR spokesman Mario Brkić.

The OHR sees this decision as a step forward and urges MPs in the BiH PA House of Representatives to convene an urgent session and, without further delay, adopt the amendments passed by the House of Peoples.

Deputies of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA yesterday adopted amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH.

The Law needed to change in order to comply with the decision of the BiH Constitutional Court, which declared unconstitutional certain provisions of the said law, but also in order to preserve the integrity of the judicial system in the fight against the organized crime and corruption.

The House of Peoples also adopted a conclusion requesting the House of Representatives of the BiH PA to review these amendments in urgent procedure.
