RS Constitutional Court: RSNA conclusions on Srebrenica a political document

BANJA LUKA, September 24 (FENA) - The Council for the Protection of the Vital Interest of the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska (RS) rejected today the request of the Bosniak Caucus in the RS Council of Peoples to determine the reason for protection of vital national interest of the constituent Bosniak people on the conclusions related to the Information on the Report of the Commission on events in and around Srebrenica from 10 to 19 July 1995.

The Council’s Chamber made such a decision because it estimated that the disputed conclusions of the RS National Assembly do not contain general norms.

“Accordingly, the conclusions do not have a binding character, thus, in their legal nature they are not a legal but a political act expressing the political views of the National Assembly of RS,” stated the RS Constitutional Court.

These findings were adopted by the RS National Assembly, with the opposition of Bosniak representatives, at a session held on August 14 this year, among which, the Commission Report on events in and around Srebrenica between July 10 and 19, 1995, has been rejected and "it announced a formation of a new commission to determine what went in that period in the Srebrenica area."
