SARAJEVO, October 17 (FENA) - Ambassadors of Turkey, Iran and the Netherlands, Haldun Koç, Mahmoud Heidari and Reinout Caspar Vos planted today lime trees in the Ambassadors’ Alley in Sarajevo.
Ambassador Koç said he was pleased to have the opportunity to participate in this project initiated by the Municipality of Stari Grad.
“This is just another symbol of friendship, good relations and cooperation between Turkey and BiH. We use every opportunity to further improve relations between our countries,” said Ambassador Koç.
Iranian Ambassador Mahmoud Heidari hopes that these trees will always symbolize peace, progress and friendship with Sarajevo and BiH.
He recalled that the Ambassador of BiH to Iran yesterday had an inaugural visit with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, when it was especially emphasized that BiH and its people have a special place in Iran.
Ambassador of the Netherlands Reinout Caspar Vos said that there is nothing better than planting trees that are symbols of nature, longevity, and care for society.
“I hope that the Municipality of Stari Grad, which is one of the most beautiful places, in the coming years, will host many tourists as the citizens of the Netherlands would certainly enjoy the city,” said Vos.
Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, pointed out that the Ambassadors’ Alley in Dariva now has 177 lime trees, and expressed hope that the planting of trees would remain a tradition.
