SARAJEVO, October 26 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Adem Zolj at a press conference today held due to a brutal attack and killing of two police officers of the SC Ministry of Interior in the morning hours in the suburb of Alipašino Polje stressed that this horrendous crime must be punished and the murderers brought to justice.

“This was a horrific act because the police officers did not even leave their vehicle this morning during their patrol, nor have they used weapons, or even got to warn the perpetrators. While the vehicle was still moving the attackers started firing at the police. We will do all that it takes to bring the perpetrators to justice. This is an attack on the state,” said Zolj.

Interior Minister of SC Vedran Mulabdić said that he condemned this horrible attack and that he believes that the perpetrators of this crime would be brought to justice just as soon as possible and that they must be punished severely.

“The MoI of SC will, in accordance with its capabilities, use all the means at disposal in order to give some peace to the families of the killed police officers. The attack on a police officer is an attack on the community and an attack on the state,” Mulabdić said expressing gratitude to all the security agencies that have made their resources available to the Sc MoI.

Police Commissioner Mevludin Halilović said that this is a continuation of the aggressive behavior of criminal groups against police officers that has culminated with the most severe consequences.

He recalled that in mid-May this year, there was also an attack on police officers in the area of Dobrinja while preventing the commission of a criminal offense of grand theft of motor vehicles.

Early this morning, in the Sarajevo suburb of Alipašino Polje, C block, the police patrol stumbled onto car thieves who began shooting at them from an automatic rifle. They killed one policeman and severely wounded another, who soon after died in the hospital from the sustained injuries.
