BIHAĆ, November 8 (FENA) - Mayor of Bihać Šuhret Fazlić has decided to end the austerity measures with regard to public lighting due to the security situation and numerous demands of citizens.

Thus, the complete system of the city lighting will be put into operation, and the cost will be co-financed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the next three months.

“Very difficult financial situation in the past period, but also the expensive maintenance of obsolete public lighting system have forced us to apply these austerity measures. Now due to the numerous demands of the citizens and due to the fact that the security situation has deteriorated, we are ending the austerity measures.

A contract was signed with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to co-finance 50 percent of the costs in the next three months, which is one sign of support to the City of Bihać during this migrant crisis,” said Mayor Fazlić.

Director of the Institute for Physical Planning in Bihać, Ademir Toromanović announced the plans for replacement of the existing lighting system, with a more modern system of LED-lighting.

He added that by introducing LED-lighting, energy savings will be about 35 percent, the negative environmental impact will be reduced, and the degree of safety of Bihać citizens will increase.
