SARAJEVO, November 29 (FENA) - The year 2019 will be crucial for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since the European Commission is preparing an opinion on BiH's candidate status for membership in the European Union, and all aspects will be taken into account, including the formation of power after the general elections, it was highlighted today after the meeting of the President of the Political and Security Committee of the EU Council, Sofie From-Emmesberger, with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Mirko Šarović, Minister of Justice Josip Grubeša, and Minister of Security Dragan Mektić.

The said officials touched upon numerous issues at today's meeting regarding the security challenges of BiH, as well as the Western Balkan countries, such as organized crime, terrorism, trafficking in human beings and increased inflows of migrants, but emphasized that BiH remains a reliable EU partner in addressing these challenges.

Zvizdić confirmed after the meeting that they also discussed the situation in judiciary sector, the rule of law, media freedom, the implementation of election results and the formation of power at all levels.

Chairman Zvizdic warned that European security institutions often talk about the security challenges that affect BiH, but without the presence of BiH officials which is why often inaccurate and unsubstantiated data is presented, especially when it comes to terrorism, extremism or radicalism.

Zvizdić stressed that EU membership remains the most important foreign policy goal for BiH, but when it comes to internal issues, the country must remain focused on strengthening its economic potential and strengthening the rule of law.

From-Emmesberger announced that the EU will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of migration probelm, and the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, reminded that so far 8.7 million euros have been allocated due to increased migrant inflow in order to strengthen the borders, but in a humanitarian sense.

President of the Political and Security Committee of the EU Council From-Emmesberger also underlined that the EU also assists better coordination within BiH to combat these challenges.

She emphasized that it is of the utmost importance that the countries of the Western Balkans sign and ratify border agreements, as this is one of the key criteria for European integration, but also because it is the best way to stabilize the entire region.

This is the first time after four years that representatives of all 28 EU member states are present in BiH, which is another indication that BiH, as well as all the Western Balkan countries, remain in the focus of European Union, and great expectations in this regard lie with the EU and countries of the region.
