SARAJEVO, November 30 (FENA) - Ceremony was held in Sarajevo yesterday on the occasion of December 1 – Day of Armed Forces of BiH and 13th anniversary of BiH AF.
Minister of Defense of BiH Marina Pendeš congratulated Day of BiH AF to members of BiH AF and reminded to highly demanding but successful defense reforms in BiH.
"Modernization of BiH AF is necessary if we want, and I am sure that is our commitment, to have capable forces ready to react in case of natural disasters, ready to demine our homeland BiH and present it in the best light in the peacekeeping operations across the world under patronage of the United Nations, NATO and the European Union," said Pendeš.
He also mentioned significant results of BiH AF in assisting civilian bodies towards progress on the Euro-Atlantic path of BiH. Progress has also been made in implementation of BiH-NATO partnership goals, as well as commitments within Partnership for Peace.
Pendeš reminded that Armed Forces of BiH have taken part in significant military and civilian exercises both on local and international level.
"With these activities we have become a credible partner of progressive part of the international community in maintenance of international peace and security. We in MoD and AF are directed towards the future and creating basis for building an efficient and effective defense system of BiH. We expect good cooperation, support and full engagement of all BiH institutions to continue towards achieving strategic goal of BiH, which is EU and NATO accession," said Pendeš.
Ceremony gathered representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Council of Ministers of BiH, Government of the Federation of BiH, ambassadors in BiH, military-diplomatic corps and representatives of religious communities in BiH.
