Indictment filed against Cvijan Tomanić for war crimes in Zvornik area

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 4 (FENA) - Former Bosnian Serb Army soldier Cvijan Tomanić was charged with crimes against humanity for allegedly killing an ethnic Albanian civilian in the Zvornik area in 1992.

The BiH state prosecution filed an indictment on Tuesday accusing Cvijan Tomanić of killing an ethnic Albanian civilian with a handgun in the Zvornik area in 1992 and then ordering other civilians, including minors, to bury the victim’s body.

The prosecution also charged him with taking two Bosniak civilians away in an unknown direction, after which they went missing.

Their remains were later exhumed from the Crni Vrh mass grave near Zvornik.

According to the charges, Tomanić committed the crimes as part of a widespread and systematic attack by the Bosnian Serb Army on the Bosniak civilian population of the Zvornik area.

The indictment has been filed to the state court for confirmation, stated the BiH Prosecutor’s Office.
