Zvizdić: Too early talk about coalitions, everyone awaits CEC’s decision

SARAJEVO, December 6 (FENA) - The newly-elected Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić (Party of Democratic Action - SDA), said today that it is too early to talk about coalitions at all levels, but noted that this coalition must be based on program principles and reform processes.

He said he wants to see a new convocation of the Council of Ministers as soon as possible to continue working on important issues such as tasks after getting a green light to activate the Membership Action Plan (MAP) with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the path to the European Union and reform laws, and economic strengthening of the country.

“Those who speak about retaining young people in BiH but are blocking the progress towards the Euro-Atlantic path and European funds are in conflict with themselves,” said Zvizdić and added that the political parties are waiting for the final decision of the Central Election Commission regarding the election of deputies to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, but that after this happens, all the processes would be accelerated.

Zvizdić is still serving as Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and asked whether he will now give up this post from when he was elected to the House of Representatives collegium; he says that he will not do so because these two official duties do not carry conflict of interest.

“Besides myself, there are other incumbent state ministers Mirko Šarović, Adil Osmanović and Dragan Mektić who have also been elected to the House, which would mean that a large part of the Council of Ministers would have to withdraw and it would be impossible to appoint a new Council of Ministers,” he pointed out.

He also explains that the Annual National Plan will not have to wait for the new Council of Ministers' convening because the NATO Integration Commission, composed of representatives of the relevant institutions related to BiH's processes towards NATO, has already worked on drafting this plan.

He therefore expressed expectation that the Commission will prepare a proposal for such a document and refer it to the Council of Ministers, which is a complex document comprised of a number of areas related to security, defense, politics, the rule of law and the economy of the country, containing hundreds of pages.

He noted that, due to all this, the drafting of a document is complex issue and requires consent, as well as coordination of representatives of a number of ministries and institutions, but expresses that the Council of Ministers will do its part very soon.

“BiH does not need any games with flags. This country needs peace, economic prosperity and new jobs. Anyone who wants to carry a flag can wrap themselves in it, or make a tailored suit out of it, as far as I am concerned and no one will be able to take it off of them, but we need serious approach to serious issues,” emphasized Zvizdić.

He also commented on the fact that the Council of Ministers has not yet adopted the Rulebook on Police uniforms; he said that there were complaints and that an additional meeting with Minister Dragan Mektić was requested in order to define the Rulebook.

Zvizdić says that this process will be completed by the end of the year so that everything would be planned in the budget for the next year.
