BANJA LUKA, December 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik stated that he would ask that BiH rejects any financial assistance offered from the European Union (EU), under which it would be obliged to receive migrants.
He says that "according to information at his disposal, there are currently 3,500 to 4,000 migrants in BiH who are located at several different locations."
"At the moment, we do not know where they are, and we see that EU's policy is to try to place migrants in countries on the outside borders of the EU. Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz a few months ago made a clear offer to the contries that border with the EU, that if they accept to set up camps for migrants, they would get financial assistance. I will do my best for this assistance to be rejected, as well as the option to accommodate migrants, who pose a serious security, social, health and communication problem, and BiH has no mechanisms to deal with this issue," said Dodik.
He reiterated the claim that BiH "has completely failed when it comes to the migration crisis and that it has no mechanism to combat this problem", he stressed in a statement to reporters in Banja Luka that he would "ask the Presidency of BiH to provide some answers on the issue."
