Chairman Zvizdić meets with US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan

SARAJEVO, December 17 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić, together with Deputy Chairman and Minister of Finance and Treasury BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda and Minister of Security Dragan Mektić, received today the United States Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan and informed him about the ongoing political and economic situation in BiH.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked the United States for supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina on its EU and NATO integration path and said that the Council of Ministers of BiH would continue to remain strongly committed to both of these integration processes, and that the coming period would be dedicated to continuing the implementation of the reform process.

The BiH officials highlighted the significance of the achieved results in the security sector, especially when it comes to the fight against extremism and terrorism, as well as the continuation of the reform of the judiciary sector.

The US Deputy Secretary of State Sullivan praised the efforts made by the BiH Council of Ministers in the past period, especially in the implementation of priorities related to the EU and NATO integration and economic growth.

He emphasized that it is extremely important that BiH submits the Annual National Program that is necessary for activation of the Membership Action Plan with NATO. 

He said that the United States would continue with its strong support for BiH’s goals and reforms on its path to EU and NATO integration.

Chairman Zvizdić stressed that the integration of BiH into the European Union and NATO are the basis for a stable political and economic progress of BiH, and that by activating the MAP and gaining a candidate status with the European Union, Bosnia and Herzegovina would gain a very much needed positive momentum on its path to the EU.

The meeting was also attended by the US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack, stated the Council of Ministers of BiH.
