SARAJEVO, December 18 (FENA) - The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) today adopted a proposal to use the 2013 census and the principle 1/1/1 for the filling of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, which implies that the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament will have at least one Bosniak, one Serb and one Croat from each canton if they are elected to that canton.
“We have come to this solution using all the principles of the Constitution of FBiH, the BiH Constitution and the BiH Election Law.
This decision will come into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette, which means in the next day or two,” President of the CEC BiH Branko Petrić told the press after the session.
He added that this decision has enabled the unimpeded appointment of delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament.
“We have done this despite the fact that there are conflicting views on whether the CEC or the legislator should do it. Also, we have found no solution to include the Brčko District residents, therefore, this remain an obligation for the constitutional court and the legislator,” said Petrić.
