SARAJEVO, January 10 (FENA) - Members of the BiH Presidency, Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić today in a meeting with European Parliament's permanent rapporteur for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cristian Dan Preda, concluded that it was of the utmost urgency to finalize and submit the remaining responses to the additional questions from the European Commission’s Questionnaire.
“I expect that in the coming days the BiH Council of Ministers would complete these responses. There are some problems in the chapter on education, bearing in mind the different competencies between the state, entity, and cantonal levels,” said Džaferović.
In addition to this, the participants of the meeting placed an emphasis on the functioning of the Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee.
“It is not a new issue. This Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee is comprised of a certain group of representatives from the European Parliament and our joint commission for European integration within the BiH PA,” explained Džaferović.
The aforementioned body, as Džaferović noted, has had a debate for some time over the decision-making process, stating that the committee has had a problem with "the position of MPs from RS who are in the state parliament".
“The European Parliament has its own rules and a clear stance that BiH should accept the rules and the manner of decision making in that committee in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission.
We said that after the establishment of the commission in the state parliament, we, the Presidency members, will try to hold a meeting with the members of that committee from BiH and members of the committee from the European Parliament, "said Džaferović.
Dan Preda assessed as a realistic goal that BiH gets a candidate status this year before the elections for the European Parliament.
