SARAJEVO, January 29 (FENA) - The Corruption Perception Index (CPI) has shown that Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the 89th place, out of a total of 180 countries, with a score of 38, which indicates a long-standing stagnation and collapsing of the democratic system, stressed today Transparency International BiH, presenting the CPI results for 2018.
Chairman of the Steering Board of TI BiH Srđan Blagovčanin and Acting Director of TI BiH Ivana Korajlić pointed at the press conference that it is necessary to carry out a systemic analysis of the functioning of the authorities at all levels.
Blagovčanin said that it has been found that BiH is completely encompassed by private interests of the individuals that execute authority.
“The institutions are paralyzed by corruption and they fail to meet the purpose of their existence. The consequence of that is the one where citizens cannot achieve basic human rights,” said Blagovčanin.
Korajlić added that Bosnia and Herzegovina, upon analyzing the data from the Index, has been placed among the countries that need to be monitored in the coming period due to the growing stagnation na d negative trends in terms of democracy and the way in which institutions operate.
“This year, BiH is in the 89th place and has the same rating of 38 as the previous year. In the past six years, nothing substantial has been done and it is obvious that the country is moving backwards,” said Korajlić.
