SARAJEVO, January 30 (FENA) - Implementation of the FARMA II project has continued with the training of personnel and veterinary inspectors on the requirements for milk and dairy products exported under the authority of the BiH Veterinary Office.
The aim of the project is to liberalize the legislation in order to export milk and dairy products safely.
“At the end of last year, exports of milk and dairy products to Croatia amounted to about 25 percent of exports, which was the same result recorded in 2012, before Croatia joined the European Union.
USAID and the Government of Sweden, through the implementation of the FARMA II project, cooperate with the private and public sectors to increase this figure as promptly as possible.
For this purpose, we hired consultants from the EU who will help institutions and companies in this process,” said the head of the FARMA II project, Bill Mays, ahead of the beginning of training.
When BiH obtained a license to further liberalize the export of milk and dairy products, and when the product list for exports was expanded, Mays says USAID and the Government of Sweden, through the FARMA II project, continued to support the private and public sectors to work together to increase exports to the EU with the expectation that this would lead to increased income and new jobs.
Training participants are educated on EU requirements and standards for the export of milk and dairy products listed in the EU Regulation 605/2010, certification procedures as well as other specific requirements of this process.
