SARAJEVO, February 3 (FENA) - The Olympic torch of peace arrived from Banja Luka to Sarajevo on Saturday.
The torch of peace was received by the mayors of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka and Nenad Vuković in Rome, and then it was ceremoniously welcomed in Banja Luka on Friday.
The Olympic torch was then transported from Banja Luka to Sarajevo by Fly Bosnia, on a maiden flight Banja Luka-Sarajevo and was welcomed by members of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić, and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić.
After the plane landed, Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka once again said that he believed that the Olympic spirit has again awakened in Sarajevo.
"I sincerely want our children to live the values of the Olympic spirit, and it is our duty to create platforms such as EYOF. This is our opportunity to work together," said Skaka.
"EYOF will be the biggest sporting event taking place in Sarajevo since the 1984 Olympics, and the number of athletes exceeds that during the Winter Olympics we had here. Let the Flame of Peace be a sign of hope that these two cities and Bosnia and Herzegovina are capable of big things when they are united," said the BiH Presidency Member Željko Komšić.
Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović pointed out that EYOF has helped and strongly supports Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EYOF 2019 starts on the 9th and will last until February 16th and will take place in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo. The cities will host more than 1,100 contestants and 750 members of delegations of national Olympic committees.
