SARAJEVO, February 5 (FENA) - Veterinary Office of BiH will deliver the list of facilities to which export of poultry meat has been approved to the European Union, so the facilities could start exporting to the EU.
"After the committee of the European Commission determined the text of amendments to the Regulative 798/2008, the amendment will be published in the EU Official Gazette in the upcoming period, after which it will come into effect three days after publishing," BiH Veterinary Office told FENA.
In order for a certain slaughterhouse to start exporting meat to the EU, they explained, it needs to get a decision from the Veterinary Office of BiH on fulfilling conditions for export to the EU, after which the list is delivered to the European Commission and will then be announced.
This process can take between one to two months.
Inspectors of the European Commission inspected plants of companies Ovako and Madi and it is expected these two companies could be among the first ones to get the license to export.
Veterinary Office stated that all facilities from BiH that show interest for export of poultry meat to the EU must meet the legal legislative in effect in the EU, regarding this kind of production.
"Only the companies determined by the BiH Veterinary Office to fully meet demands of the EU legislative in this production segment can be approved and included in the EU list and export their products to the EU. Decision on the companies that will be able to export meat to the EU will be issued soon," the office told FENA.
