Crnadak attends ministerial meeting of Global Coalition to Defeat ISIL

WASHINGTON, February 7 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak was invited by the U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo to participate in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIL, which was held in Washington yesterday.

Meeting was opened by the Secretary of State Pompeo, and topics discussed at the meeting included next stage of activities of the Coalition, which will focus on protection against ISIL in Iraq and Syria through assistance in stabilization and security control in these states. Participants of the meeting also reviewed planned logistic requests for 2019.  

Addressing participants of the meeting, Minister Crnadak informed about contribution of BiH in area of fight against the international terrorism and ISIL, stressing that as part of the Global Coalition, BiH will continue actively contributing and supporting the Coalition towards rehabilitation from damage caused by ISIL.

Minister Crnadak emphasized that there is strong consensus in BiH, both in Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, regarding participation of BiH in fight against international terrorism and the Islamic State, despite numerous internal political differences.

He reminded of specific steps BiH has taken in this area, such as donation of ammunition to the Iraqi Government, decision of the BiH Presidency on donating financial resources to support Afghan national and security forces (ANDSF) for period of 2020-2024 and adoption of a Strategy for Prevention and Fight against Terrorism for the period of 2015 - 2020.

Minister Crnadak met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó on the margins of the ministerial meeting in Washington. They talked about the European integration of BiH and bilateral cooperation between the two countries, PR Office of BiH MFA stated.
