Concession agreement signed for construction and use of HPPs 'Foča' and 'Paunci'

BANJA LUKA, February 19 (FENA) - Minister of Energy and Mining of RS, Petar Đokić, and Acting General Manager of Elektroprivreda RS, Luka Petrović signed today a concession agreement for the construction and use of hydro power plants "Foča" and "Paunci" on the Drina River, in the municipality of Foča.

After the signing of the agreement, the two pointed out that “the Republic of Serbia gave special importance to this energy project and expressed interest in participating in the construction of the aforementioned hydro power plants, which was confirmed at the last joint session of the joint  energy committee of Serbia and the entity of RS” the ministry said.

Đokić emphasized that the obligation of "Elektroprivreda RS" is “to establish a concession company that will enter into a contractual relationship with "Elektroprivreda Srbije" in order to build these energy facilities and added that the means of implementation of the project and further steps will be harmonized at the next session of the governments of RS and Serbia.”

The estimated installed capacity of the HPP "Foča" is 44.15 megawatts, while the HPP "Paunci" installed capacity is 43.21 megawatts.

The total estimated value of these investments is about 245 million euros.

The concession has been granted for a period of 50 years, and the hydro power plants will be full built no later than six years from the date of signing of the agreement.
