SARAJEVO, February 22 (FENA) - Traditional musical performance ‘Gamelan’ and the traditional Sundanis and Betawi dances this evening at the Sarajevo City Hall were presented within the program "Touch of Indonesia", taking part in the International Sarajevo Winter Festival 2019.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to BiH Amalia Achmad Yani reminded that, thanks to the good cooperation with the Sarajevo Winter Festival, Indonesia every year has the opportunity to present its rich culture and arts, traditional costumes, dances, musical instruments, as well as its versatile cuisine.

The guests from the public life of BiH and the diplomatic corps had the opportunity to taste Indonesian specialties, coffee with coconut sugar (Gula Jawa), rich with vitamins and minerals, and suitable for diabetics.

Jasmine flower tea was also served, as well as peanuts coated with rice and tapioca flours.

Gamelan is traditional ensemble music from the islands of Java and Bali and it is an integral part of Indonesian culture.

Gamelan is a generic term referring to an ensemble which is comprised predominantly of percussion instruments. The melody of a single instrument cannot be perceived as separate from the wholesome sound of the ensemble.

Ambassador Achmad Yani thanked the Festival Director Ibrahim Spahić for excellent cooperation and expressed hope that such level of cooperation would continue in the future.
