BIHAĆ, March 5 (FENA) - Delegation of UNICEF in BiH visited schools in area of Bihać and Cazin today, where children from migrant and refugee companies attend lessons, as well as shelters where vulnerable categories of this population are staying, and she met with Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton (USC) Mustafa Ružnić.

"First conclusion from today's meeting with the Cantonal Prime Minister is importance and significance of further cooperation and mutual support between us and cantonal authorities. Second equally important conclusion is that while we are providing assistance to children from migrant and refugee families, we are also supporting institutions in this canton. By that I firstly mean schools, specifically education system, social work centers and health institutions so that the local community has benefits from all of that. So our focus is helping these children, however we are also thinking about the local population," said UNICEF Representative in BiH Geeta Narayan.

Prime Minister of USC Mustafa Ružnić also emphasized successful cooperation with UNICEF in BiH, but this time he asked for support in the sense of the competent state institutions getting involved in solving the situation with migrants and refugees in this canton.

"We must insist on maximum engagement of the state in order to fully control the situation. When it comes to cooperation with UNICEF, it is truly on a high level. Together we have managed to preserve dignity of migrant and refugee families with children, but also the local population," added cantonal Prime Minister Ružnić.

Representatives of UNICEF delegation in BiH were pleased with the current situation and care for children as the most vulnerable category of migrant and refugee population in area of Una-Sana Canton, especially when it comes to engagement in the education process and health care.
