France donates equipment to BiH for ballistic analysis of small caliber weapons

SARAJEVO, March 5 (FENA) - The Republic of France will donate ballistic analysis equipment for small arms and ammunition to strengthen the capacities of police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was announced after the meeting between BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić and French Ambassador to BiH Guillaume Rousson.

At today's meeting, the two officials assessed that the new equipment with adequate staff training would significantly improve the capacities of police agencies in this segment.

They also discussed capacity-building and cooperation in the fight against illegal arms trafficking, and stressed the need for effective fight against illegal arms trade, bilateral cooperation and information exchange.

In this regard, Mektić and Rousson discussed the ongoing negotiations for the signing of a technical agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the fight against smuggling of small arms.

Ambassador Rousson thanked for the recognition from the Ministry of Security of BiH for the help he provided in developing the system of protection and rescue in BiH and announced that France would continue to strengthen cooperation in this area with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
