Better communication to secure higher level of safety for Bihać citizens

BIHAĆ, March 14 (FENA) - Representatives of the local community and international organizations today participated in the roundtable "Stable City of Bihać through joint cooperation", where they discussed joint activities related to the situation with migrants and refugees in the Una-Sana Canton (USC).

“The priority goal is to ensure a significantly higher level of security for Bihać citizens through regular communication. We also want to provide our citizens with timely and true information about everything that is happening in the city. Unfortunately, the situation with migrants and refugees has been very convenient for spreading disinformation and intimidating citizens of Bihać.

There will be no new reception centers, nor the establishment of a container village. That is why we have formed the Communication Team so that we can quickly deny false information and even attempts to intimidate the Bihać population,” said Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić.

Dorijan Klasnić from UNHCR BiH spoke about the migration processes in South East Europe, i.e., reports from the field and prognosis for 2019.

“Based on the UNHCR report from the countries that are the source of this process, but also the countries that are on the migrant route, we can conclude that there has been no change compared to last year. That is why we have to commend the City of Bihać and the citizens of this city, who at the beginning of the crisis showed their humanity, and projects like this one contribute to the successful directing and articulation of the needs of the local population, along with migrants and refugees,” Klasnić said.
