SARAJEVO, March 20 (FENA) - Today's sentence of life in prison for war criminal Radovan Karadžić, the former president of Republika Srpska and the supreme commander of the Republika Srpska Army, for the crime of genocide and a series of joint criminal enterprises, is of great importance for understanding the past, for unconditionally accepting the truth and justice , for the partial satisfaction for the families of innocent victims, but also for the process of coexistence and for future generations in BiH, and finally for the general acceptance of the verdict and the renunciation of the genocidal and criminal legacy that Karadžić has left behind, said in a statement to FENA the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić.
“Without facing the truth about the crimes committed and reaching justice, it is impossible to heal the wounds of the past and hope to build trust and stability. With the deepest compassion I share with the families of the victims, I hope that today's judgment will help them find peace and inner strength for forgiveness and reconciliation," he said.
Zvizdić expects and invites representatives of those political ideas that have glorified war criminal Radovan Karadžić, to accept the verdict, to choose the side of the truth and to permanently condemn and shun those who planned, organized and executed mass crimes, and cease with the anti-civilized glorification of war criminals and shameful revision of historical facts.
“As we testified a few days ago, a convicted war criminal Karadžić has become an inspiration to terrorists around the world, and he will forever remain only that - inspiration and the initiator of a failed hegemonic project and crimes against humanity. That is why persons like Srđan Aleksić, and not Radovan Karadžić's, should serve as examples for future generations,” said Zvizdić.
