BIHAĆ, March 22 (FENA) - The Operational HQ for Coordination of Activities and Supervision of the Migration Crisis in the Una-Sana Canton (USC) is in permanent session as of yesterday, as a new influx of migrants and refugees is expected in the coming period.

“We made this decision because all the information confirms that with the arrival of warmer weather, we expect significant number of new migrants and refugees to arrive. Also, we have decided to officially request from the Council of Ministers of BiH and other competent state institutions to hold an urgent meeting in Sarajevo, since we still do not have official confirmation of the takeover of the control and supervision of the reception centers at this time, nor of any specific moves of the Council Ministers or the Service for Foreigners Affairs of BiH,” said USC Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić.

At the meeting of this Operational Group, it was noted that police control in the Bihać area has already been strengthened.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of USC as of today is strengthened with 49 new police officers that will enable us to enhance the police presence in the city of Bihać. We will do this in the four-brigade system, which has not been done for more than ten years. I also ordered deployment of police officers from the Cazin and Bužim areas to help and assist,” said the police commissioner Mujo Koričić.

Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić insists that the plan of accommodation facilities in temporary accommodation camps in Bihać is respected, especially when it comes to migrants located in Bira.

They also confirmed that the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs of the USC will intensify the monitoring of the illegal provision of accommodation to migrants and refugees, and that funds from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will be required for the provision of medical assistance services in the health centers and the Cantonal Hospital "Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić".
