BERLIN, April 5 (FENA) – European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) held its regular annual conference at headquarters of German news agency DPA in Berlin yesterday.
Conference gathered directors and representatives of leading news agencies, members of the Alliance, including news agencies of Turkey, Germany, Albania, Croatia, Azerbaijan and BiH, which was represented by General Manager of the Federal News Agency FENA Elmir Huremović.
Topic of this-year's conference was "Opportunities for news agencies from fighting disinformation". During the panels within the conference participants had discussions on disinformation and also the Copyright Directive.
During the discussion on opportunities and challenges of the Directive it was emphasized that implementation is different in different countries but that pressure and discussion on this issue needs to continue.
Founded on August 21st 1956, after a conference in Strasbourg, EANA is a cooperation and information exchange forum of European news agencies. EANA consists of 32 news agencies promoting and respecting copyright, access to quality information, technological development of media and, last but not least, freedom of press.
Federal News Agency FENA became a member of EANA in 2017 as the only representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
