Izetbegović: Disappointing to see that Russia unilaterally takes the side of RS

SARAJEVO, April 5 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Bakir Izetbegović said today it is disappointing that Russia is more and more unilaterally taking the side of the leaders of Republika Srpska no matter if what they are doing is good or bad.

“It is definitely a bad thing that Russia has welcomed the establishment of the RS Commission to investigate war crimes in Srebrenica and Sarajevo. I hope that this disappointing trend would be put to an end by Russia,” Izetbegović said today to journalists in Sarajevo.

He believes also to be a very bad thing the latest proposal of the RS authorities to introduce a reserve police force in Republika Srpska, as this will, as he claims, lead to similar reciprocal moves in the Federation of BiH.

“We do not need this race and by doing this, they will force us to do similar things in the Federation of BiH and in addition to that, it all costs a lot of money,” said Izetbegović.

Commenting on the latest events, he addressed the initiation of an investigation against the Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić by the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, saying that this is nothing strange coming from this institution and that he trusted Mektić more than the BiH Prosecution.
