TUZLA, April 15 (FENA) - On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović today in Tuzla, in the base of the BiH Armed Forces in Dubrave, in his speech said that the Army of BiH was the only legitimate and lawful military force on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina which, in unbearable conditions, defended our country.
“It was an enormous achievement and it was a huge difference between the Army of BiH in relation to all other armies that came to BiH, who were here to exhort aggression, to plunder to kill and raid the country and ultimately, to disintegrate it. Unlike all of them, the Army of BiH was the only legitimate military force of the legitimate Government of BiH, an internationally recognized state. Critics should never forget and should always bear this in mind,” said Džaferović, adding that the Army of BiH was created by its people in a time that was one of the hardest in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“When numerous forces tried to destroy and disintegrate BiH, the Army of BiH defended this country and enabled the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement. It is the most deserving one for the freedom we enjoy today. Today, 24 years after the Dayton PA, we need to continue the legacy of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the goals that it fought for, which is a comprehensive and democratic BiH, a state of equal people and citizens, no matter what part of this country they live in and regardless of any national or ethnic affiliation. And we will achieve this goal,” Džaferović underlined in his address.
At a gathering in the military base in Dubrave, Džaferović also sent out a message to all retrograde forces that would still like to realize some of their goals, saying that they had not been able to realize them waging wars so how would they go about doing in in peace time and urged them to once and for all give up these intentions of causing conflicts, waging wars with aspirations of secession and disintegration.
“By doing this, they will put in danger all that was created by the Dayton Peace Agreement, which are the entities themselves. Bosnia and Herzegovina has existed long before the Dayton Peace Agreement, and the Dayton PA only confirmed its statehood and legal continuity. The retrograde forces must know this and have to start constructively behaving in order to establish a constructive political atmosphere in this country, to carry out economic reforms, to move this country towards the European Union and NATO. This is in the interest of all peoples and all citizens of this country,” said the Presidency member Šefik Džaferović.
The Day of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina was celebrated in the of Dubrave military with the highest military honors of representatives of the civilian authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, international military organizations, military diplomatic corps and veteran organizations.
