KONJIC, April 16 (FENA) - The 26th anniversary of the killing of 22 Croats killed by the Zulfikar unit on this day in 1993, was marked by laying wreaths and lighting candles at the memorial site in Trusina near Konjic.

President of the Federation of BiH Marinko Čavara, HDZ President 1990 Ilija Cvitanović, Minister of the Interior of the HNC Slađan Bevanda and the Minister of Justice of BiH Josip Grubeša, gathered at the memorial and the cross built at the local graveyard in Trusina, along with members of the family and friends of victims.

After laying wreaths, a Holy Mass was led by Don Ante Ledić, who in his sermon called for forgiveness and recalled the last words of Jesus on the cross: "Father forgive them because they do not know what they are doing."

In the attack on the BiH Army unit commanded by Zulfikar Ališpago, the village was occupied in the early hours of the morning, after which 18 civilians and four Croat Defense Council (HVO) members were killed.

The oldest victim was Kata Drljo, who at the time she was killed was 75 years old while the youngest victim was Ivan Drljom who at the time he was killed was 21.

For the war crime in Trusina, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sentenced former members of the Army of BiH, Edin Džeko, to 13 years in prison, while Rasema Handanović was sentenced to five and a half years in prison on the basis of a plea agreement.

Zulfkar Alispago was originally charged along with five other members of the Bosnian Army troops – Mensur Memić, Dževad Salčin, Senad Hakalović, Nedžad Hodžić and Nihad Bojadžić.

However, due to his illness the proceedings against him were separated from the others in March 2014.

Memić, Hodžić and Bojadžić were sentenced to 37 years in prison for the murder of Croat civilians and captured soldiers in Trusina, while Salčin and Hakalović were acquitted.
