SARAJEVO, April 19 (FENA) - To all those who are blinded by selfishness, pride, or other sources of darkness, I wish that they reveal the resurrection light and discover the true meaning of life and work joyfully in building a better world,” said today the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljić in his traditional Easter message.
In a message titled "May the Resurrected Christ bring the Light into the Gruesome Reality", given on the occasion of the most important Catholic holiday of Easter that celebrates the resurrection of Christ, Cardinal Puljić spoke today in Sarajevo about the School of the Cross that contemplated the stations of the Cross, treating one's own sins, societies and the Church, as well as society’s healing.
He underlined that, on behalf of the freedoms, a diseased atmosphere has been created because there is lack of responsibilities for man and the truth. Whenever there is no accountability and love for the truth, man is endangered,” warned the Archbishop of Vrhbosna.
"Therefore, we pray to the Risen Lord to bring light to the people, for the darkness of evil not to blind the society and not to twist its values, thus causing fear and insecurity in the society, destroying the good of this world for the sake of narrow personal interests," he said.
The Cardinal says that "in this aggressive atmosphere of selfishness and pride, walking for Christ on the Stations of the Cross, we learn the humility and generosity that are so necessary for mutual cooperation and coexistence. In this glooming atmosphere of hatred and exclusivity, we are learning about forgiveness on the Way of the Cross.”
He also warned that, although much time has passed since the war, many wounds have been healed and they are still warm. He believes that this unhealthy atmosphere among the people further infuriates hate and inequality, pouring salt to the existing wounds.
“To all who are wounded in their body and soul, I wish that they heal their wounds in the wounds of the Risen Christ and discover in Him a source of comfort and hope. To everyone and everybody, I wish for a happy and blessed Easter, full of joy, consolation and hope," said Cardinal Puljić in his Easter message.
