SARAJEVO, April 19 (FENA) - The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) today asked its members that hold public offices to launch an initiative for the establishment of an auxiliary police unit in the Federation of BiH after the authorities of Republika Srpska (RS) adopted a draft of law which will enable establishment of such a unit.
The Party for Democratic Action (SDA) also asked its members to initiate a procedure to fill all the positions in the existing police institutions in FBiH and the cantons and to equip them properly and in accordance with the law.
At the same time, the SDA has asked to start the procedures for amending the laws in the FBiH and the cantons to enable the introduction of the reserve police force units.
“Considering that the RS MoI and the National Assembly of RS have ignored the warnings and appeals of domestic and some of the international officials, and established a draft law that will introduce the reserve police unit in the entity of RS, we consider this answer to be necessary and the only correct one in order not to violate the balance of police forces in the entities,” it is said in the statement.
The SDA expects other political parties in the FBiH to join them and support this initiative.
The SDA will also take all legal possible legal actions to remove the provision which would allow the issuing of false BiH documents for alleged carrying out of police operations. Such a provision is contrary to the existing laws and police standards, and would allow numerous abuses and would endanger safety and security in the country,” stated the SDA.
