SARAJEVO, April 30 (FENA) - Officials of the European Union and the Western Balkans met in Berlin last night and discussed regional stability and cooperation, with emphasis on relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and the meeting was attended by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić, who strongly stood against drawing of new borders.

Meeting was organized by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, PR Office of the BiH CoM stated.

Chairman Zvizdić repeated at the gathering he is against drawing of new borders based on ethnic principles in the Western Balkans, stressing that territorial integrity, sovereignty and multiethnicity of societies should be the only basis to solve bilateral disputes, especially the issue of borders.

He called to finally conclude border agreements of BiH and the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia, the same way it was successfully done with Montenegro in 2015.

He strongly condemned links made between Kosovo status and the BiH entity of Republika Srpska, and anti-constitutional actions by those who are drawing some new borders over the territory of independent recognized states.

He asked for BiH to be awarded a candidate status and for assistance in activation of the Membership Action Plan (MAP), which would be important elements of stability and economic development of BiH society through creating political stability and safe business environment attractive to foreign investors.

He emphasized that BiH will remain a constructive partner in all regional processes, noting that BiH can support agreement between Belgrade and Pristina which is a result of consensus which will have no negative consequences to the region, especially BiH.

He concluded that BiH is not a source or a threat to the region or the EU for any form of terrorism and it remains committed to constructive regional processes, such as the Berlin Process, which improve overall stability, development and reconciliation process in the region.
