Mektić: I am convinced that this an attempt to block the functioning of CoM

SARAJEVO, May 21 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, commenting on the failure to hold a session of the Council of Ministers today because the ministers from the Croat people refused to attend the session, told reporters that he was convinced that it was an attempt to fully block the functioning of the BiH Council of Ministers.

He recalled that the last regular session of the BiH Council of Ministers was held on April 4 this year, noting that there were several attempts and calls to hold a session of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

“But, the Croat representatives, the HDZ BiH did not want it, so it was not possible to hold the session. It is a key indicator which leads me to conclude that this is an attempt to entirely block the functioning of this institution as it was previously announced by Milorad Dodik, who said one and a half months ago that the ministers from the Croat people will stop coming to the sessions of the Council of Ministers and thus boycott the work of this institution, which is now what is happening in real time,” said Mektić.

He added that they have not been working in fact, since 4 May and "we are in a classic blockade".

“There are many things on the agenda, and they are crucial for changing some things in the country, as of tomorrow, to make some things different, to move forward, but obviously some people do not care about the interests of BiH citizens, their lives and their problems, they have their political interests in taking hold of certain positions, seizing certain cash flows, primarily the main financial flows, and the interests of the citizens are not important,” says Mektić.

He called on all political entities to agree and appoint a new convocation of the BiH Council of Ministers.

“But, until a new convocation is formed, is it normal for us not to work? Is it normal to get our salaries without coming to work, or to appear here once during the week,” said Mektić.

Asked by reporters about the adoption of the Annual National Program, Mektić said that this new blockade of the CoM has nothing to do with the Annual National Program.

“Even if we removed the Annual National Program from the agenda, we dealt with other issues. If you ask me, there are many other important issues that affect everyday needs of citizens,” says Mektić.

He noted that somehow the CoM managed to resolve the issue of Europol's office in BiH.

“But for a month and a half, I cannot put this issue behind us because there is no session of the Council of Ministers. This is an obvious arrangement between SNSD and HDZ BiH to block this institution and thus bring someone else to the wall in order to form a government. Blocking the institutions to get hold of power is not a way to do things,” emphasized Mektić.
