TUZLA, May 26 (FENA) - Tuzla marked 24 years since the horrific massacre at Kapija (Gate) yesterday, when the grenade fired from Mount Ozren on 25th May 1995 killed 71 persons and injured more than 200. This massacre, also known as the crime against Tuzla youth, is one of the most severe crimes committed against civilians of Tuzla.
Commemorative event, remembrance of victims of this tragedy and all civilian victims of the previous war, began at Slana Banja yesterday with release of 71 doves and flower-laying ceremony.
Families of the victims and numerous friends came to the locations of Memorial Complex "Youth Alley" to honor innocent civilians who lost their lives on Youth Day.
Officials of the city and cantonal authority, delegation of Government of FBiH, numerous associations and organizations, citizens and many others laid flowers, said Al-Fatiha prayer and honored the victims.
Grenade from Mt. Ozren was fired by Serb army under command of Novak Djukić, who is living in Serbia.
