Komšić condemns the demolition of a memorial to the killed Croats near Prijedor

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 28 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić strongly condemned the demolition of the memorial to the killed Croats in the village of Briševo near Prijedor, calling it vandalism and a hateful act that is directed against a small returnee community in the entity of RS.

Komšić urged the authorities and the RS police to find the perpetrators of this act in the shortest possible time. Otherwise, this sends a message to the Croats that there is no place for them in RS.

He also added that something like the case of mass grave in Tomašica must never repeat again in this region again, saying that he did not understand the decades-long silence of the so-called "legitimate representatives of Croats about the crimes committed against Croats in Prijedor,” stated the BiH Presidency.

Briševo near Prijedor is a symbol of the suffering of Croats, who were killed by the members of the so-called Republika Srpska Army at the beginning of the 1992 aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the project of ethnic cleansing of Bosniaks and Croats, as well as other non-Serb population from this region.
