BIHAĆ, June 6 (FENA) - Three police officers and ten migrants have been injured in a fight between migrants located in the Miral temporary accommodation center in Velika Kladuša. In addition to the attack on police officers, police vehicle was also damaged, and 20 foreign nationals were arrested.

An attack on the police was preceded by mutual brawls in the reception center and the surrounding city streets.

“Some thirty migrants charged against the police, who tried to prevent further fighting between the beneficiaries of the center and put the situation in and around the camp under control. Police officers also had to fire warning shots, because stones and metal objects were thrown at them,” said Ale Šiljdedić, a spokesman for the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Interior Minister of USC Nermin Kljajić confirmed that six persons were handed over to the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be deported.

“I must add that these are not the only persons that we will be deported, because we are still monitoring the situation and gathering information. Almost one hundred migrants took part in the mutual fighting in and around the temporary center. At present, the situation is under control, although about fifty persons are still out of camp and are hiding in abandoned buildings. Members of the Support Unit of the USC MoI have been deployed at the location,” Kljajić added.

Medical care to almost all of the injured was provided at the Health Center in Velika Kladuša, while five migrants who were injured in mutual fighting were taken to the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać.

There are currently more than 600 migrants and refugees currently living in the temporary center in Velika Kladuša, and this is the second incident in just a few days, in addition to last week's fire in the center.

“The center accommodates large number of people of different nationalities and they reside in a small area and incidents are almost everyday thing. This is definitely an alarm for the competent state institutions to do something concrete, because what is at stake is not only the safety of the people who are staying and working here, but also the residents of all towns with temporary reception centers in the canton,” warned Husein Kličić from the USC Red Cross.

The Cantonal Interior Minister Nermin Kljajić once again emphasized the police's lack of capacities to control the situation in several locations in Bihać, Cazin and Velika Kladuša, and confirmed the need to move all these people to a location that would be under full control of the Foreigners Service, international organizations that operate on the ground and police agencies.
