FBiH Government on Aluminij d.d. - Strategic partner or bankruptcy (VIDEO)

SARAJEVO, June 17 (FENA) – Steering Board and management of company Aluminij d.d. Mostar are in charge of launching activities in finding a strategic partner which should be from this area and with experience in this sector, it was the first conclusion from the meeting that was held at the FBiH Government in Sarajevo today.

Topics of the meeting were also status and future organization of Aluminij, which was attended by Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić, Minister of Finance Jelka Miličević, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić and representatives of company Aluminij d.d.

Second conclusion of the meeting is for representatives of Government of FBiH and competent ministry to call all representatives of shareholders of Aluminij d.d. in the next ten days to meet and find long term solutions for this company.  

If these first two conclusions are not successful, as Minister Džindić stated at a press conference, they defined two more conclusions. They instructed Steering Board and management of the company to prepare all necessary actions and activities and launch bankruptcy procedure and review possibility of success of controlled bankruptcy. They also put SB and management of Aluminij in charge of preparing and bringing a program they will use in case they shut down production.       

Džindić announced that a joint meeting with management and electricity distribution companies EP BiH and EP HZHB will be held during the week to discuss electric energy supply of Aluminij.

According to director of Aluminij d.d. Dražen Pandža, this company is experiencing crisis yet again.

“Losses we are experiencing are too high and if we want to be responsible towards ourselves and society we must say this is the final moment to stop some things, draw the line and try and find some long-term solution,” emphasized Pandža.

Government of the Federation owns 44 percent in structure of ownership in company Aluminij, Government of the Republic of Croatia 12 percent and shareholders 44 percent.
