FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 3 (FENA) - The mortal remains of 33 victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in 1995 will be buried in the Srebrenica Memorial Center - Potočari on July 11.

The remains have been transferred from the Commemorative Center in Tuzla to the premises of town cemetery in Visoko, from where they will be transported to Potočari on July 9.

If a family in the meantime decides to bury the remains of their loved ones, it will be made available to them.

The youngest victim to be buried in Potočari this year is Osman Cvrk, born in 1979. He was a minor at the time he was killed. He was only 16 years old.

The oldest victim to be buried this year is Šaha Cvrk. She was 82 years old when she was killed and is also the only woman to be buried in Potočari this year.

There are 140 identified victims in the Podrinje identification center in Tuzla at the moment, but mostly due to incomplete remains, the families have not yet decided to bury them.

Among them are 38 victims who were officially identified through DNA analysis and by family members, while others were only identified based on DNA analysis.

So far, 6,610 victims of the genocide have been buried in the Potočari Memorial Center, and the families are still searching for more than 1,000 missing Srebrenica inhabitants, stated the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH.
