Dodik: We had a very successful SEECP Summit in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, July 9 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik said that today's session of the Summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in Jahorina, was very successful.

“We had extensive discussion on important issues of overall regional cooperation, and we adopted a Declaration that represents a comprehensive approach related to the process of European integration, security, economic development, migration, digitization and everything that can be the subject of cooperation in the future,” said Dodik.

He reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina concluded the chairmanship of the Southeast European Cooperation Process, which was taken over by Kosovo, although their representatives did not attend the Summit in Sarajevo.

“Their reasons for not coming to the summit did not diminish the effects of the Summit, and I am sorry that they were not here,” Dodik said.

He congratulated Kosovo on taking over the presidency of SEECP and wished them success.

He confirmed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at yesterday’s meeting requested the extradition of certain persons who reside in the territory of the Federation of BiH, linked to Turkey's attempted coup and whose extradition depends on the FBiH institutions.

Dodik pointed out that the closure of the border or the engagement of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the border with Montenegro and Serbia because of the migrant crisis is unacceptable because he considers that “this would just create additional problems.”

“A much better approach would be the cooperation of all countries in the region on this issue and the fight against criminal groups that smuggle migrants,” said Dodik.

He stated that the BiH Presidency has not yet received the request of the BiH Border Police to send a protest note to Turkey in connection to yesterday's incident with Erdogan's security detail at the Sarajevo International Airport.

"It was unnecessary and I am sorry about that, but, there are regulations that apply when entering BiH and they should be respected, as well as there are special regimes and procedures when important guests come," Dodik said.
