SREBRENICA, July 11 (FENA) - Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina Lars Gunnar Wigemark stated today that he is attending for the fourth time a commemoration for the victims of genocide in Srebrenica in the former battery plant, now a memorial site.

“Last night we gathered in the same premises to talk about an important topic – a continuation of the search for missing persons, which is financially supported by the EU, and the task that we must continue to work on,” said Wigemark.

He emphasized that the European Commission's Opinion clearly states that denying genocide and any kind of revisionism is in contradiction with the fundamental values of the EU, which he repeated today during his address at the commemoration.

"It is the responsibility of all the leaders in the region to create an atmosphere where the truth can be said and where it is possible to deal with the reconciliation and consequences of the war," Wigemark said.

After today's commemoration and the collective burial the number of victims who have found their last resting place in the Memorial Center in Potočari will be 6,643. The families are still searching for another 1,000 missing persons from the Srebrenica area.
