BANJA LUKA, July 23 (FENA) - Minister for Spatial Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republika Srpska (RS) Srebrenka Golić voiced hope that Croatia would give up on the construction of the low and medium-volume nuclear waste landfill at Trgovska Gora on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that, if it does not, the legal struggle will continue.

She said that we will not give up on the legal fight and an international team at the state level will be engaged to deal with the protection of 230,000 residents from nine municipalities at the Una River near the location where Croatia intends to store this hazardous waste.

“The next step is the International Court of Justice,” Golić told reporters, pointing out that the first step was to initiate proceedings in accordance with the applicable international conventions.

“I hope that Croatia and Slovenia will arrange the disposal of radioactive waste in Vrbina, and that diplomacy and the BiH Presidency will do their part,” Golić said.
