SARAJEVO, August 1 (FENA) - The BiH Constitutional Court rejected an appeal from former Bosnian Serb Army serviceman Dragan Marinković, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for his involvement in the killings of two Bosniak civilians in 1992.
The Bosnian Constitutional Court has dismissed as unfounded Dragan Marinković’s appeal against his conviction for committing crimes against humanity in the village of Žutica in the Milići municipality of eastern Bosnia in 1992.
“The Constitutional Court finds that there is no violation of the right to a fair trial,” said the decision, which was handed down on July 17.
It said that the courts that tried Marinković’s case had given “detailed, clear and substantiated explanations regarding the evidence presented”.
In March 2017, the appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court upheld the first-instance verdict that convicted Marinković of crimes against humanity for his role in the killings of the two civilians in Žutica on May 11, 1992.
He was found guilty of killing Rašid Jašarević and Mehmedalija Ahmetović together with another, unknown soldier, BIRN reports.
