PJP: The people need an explanation of what coalition partners signed

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 7 (FENA) - On the occasion of the signing of a coalition agreement between the SDA, SNSD and HDZ BiH, the People and Justice Party invited SDA President Bakir Izetbegović to answer three key questions to the people about what the three party leaders have specifically agreed upon.

The first question certainly concerns Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to NATO integration, which the SDA, with the support of all pro-Bosnian parties, has made a condition of for the formation of the BiH Council of Ministers.

“Izetbegović must come before his people and make it clear whether and by what time exactly Bosnia and Herzegovina will submit the first Annual National Program (ANP). Without the ANP, our path in NATO will not only been slowed down but it will be blocked, and we have heard from Dodik and his partners that the ANP will not be signed. The issue of NATO integration goes beyond party disagreement and we have always been ready to support Bosniak representatives in this field. But Izetbegović must realize that a new generation has grown up that will not allow itself to be deceived,” said the statement by People and Justice.

The second question concerns the wording that by changing the electoral legislation, the coalition partners will ensure the legitimate representation of the people.

“The Dodik, Čović and Izetbegović coalition agreement has used the wording on legitimate representation, which has been a dangerous mantra of the HDZ BiH for several years, which seeks to show that only HDZ members are legitimate representatives of the Croat people. As a party that inherits BiH's multiculturalism and whose membership includes Bosnian Croats, we urge Izetbegović to respond to all Croats who are not and will not be members of the HDZ, whether he has delivered their fate to Čović by putting his signature,” the People and Justice Party said.

A matter that is little talked about in public, and which, according to People and Justice, is equally important, is the question of deadlines, which are not at all part of the signed agreement.

“The agreement is so general that it essentially does not bind anyone to anything, as can be seen from the diametrically opposed statements of the signatories just a day after. The agreement is full of phrases, without offering any concrete solutions. Given that the agreement does not oblige anyone to anything, Izetbegović must answer whether he has a plan B in the event that Čović and Dodik decide to block whatever they do not like in the BiH Council of Ministers. We remind Izetbegović that some of the mistakes he made himself or the party he heads put the entire pro-Bosnian politics in a pat-position before the Dodik-Čović coalition. The mistake by the SDA of providing four representatives to the SNSD in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly is already costly enough, and each subsequent misstep puts our homeland in an even more complicated situation,” the People and Justice Party added.

At the end of the statement from this party, they recall that Izetbegović did not discuss a very important issue in the agreement or in the public debate, which is a treaty between the Islamic Community and the state, and once again they invite Bosniak representatives to pay attention to this issue.
