Biokšić: New meeting regarding Aluminij concludes without solution

FENA

MOSTAR, August 13 (FENA) - A new meeting was held at the administration building of Mostar's Aluminij company on Tuesday at the request from the Independent Trade Union of employees of that company, regarding the payment of contributions, severance pay and restarting of production, which was planned for September 1 this year.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Trade Union, the Supervisory Board and the Aluminij management, HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović and FBiH Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević.

“At the meeting, we learned about conducting a survey that would be the backbone of the Aluminij Mostar Business Restructuring Plan, according to which 64 percent of employees said they would agree to continue working under changed conditions (50 percent agreed to a reduction in salaries), 9 percent said that would take severance pay, 6 percent rounded off both, while 21 percent were completely abstained,” President of the Independent Aluminij Employees Union Romeo Biokšić told FENA after the meeting.

According to him, the draft systematization of new jobs, which is scheduled for the first phase of the restarting of production in Aluminum, stipulates 334 employees, but it is necessary to provide severance pay in the amount of approximately 4 million KM for 495 employees who have permanent contract marks, which the Management Board does not have.

For these reasons, Biokšić believes it is also questionable to start production unless a new strategic partner injects new funds.

“In this situation, without a foreign investor, and without any financial injection, with such severance pay, the mission of starting production is questioned, and FBiH Finance Minister Jelka Milićević also confirmed that these 334 employees would have to work without pay for the first month or two,” said Biokšić.

According to him, a meeting between the Supervisory Board and the Management Board of the company with an Israeli-Chinese company is underway.
