Komšić: Consistent implementation of EC Opinion is problem for Dodik's policy

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 18 (FENA) - Consistent implementation of the European Commission's Opinion is a problem for Milorad Dodik's blockade policy, BiH Presidency Member Željko Komšić said today.

He responded to Dodik's statement in the media today that “by hiding behind the European Commission’s Opinion, which he selectively and obviously misread and interpreted, Komšić is trying to present his political ideas by attacking the Constitution on which BiH is founded.”

“I am not hiding behind the European Commission's Opinion, but I call for consistent implementation of the Opinion's recommendations. The fact that consistent implementation of this would lead to the application of European standards is a problem for Dodik, who is now trying to advocate a defeated policy before the EU institutions. It is also not true that I am in favor of abolishing the constituency, but of rejecting it. These are not the same terms. Abolition is a violent act, and rejection is a process based on the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, which did not call for violence but for the harmonization of the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union. Dodik knows it too, HDZ as well, but it's hard for them to accept. That is why they panicked,” Komšić said.

“After all, if BiH had been governed by European standards, as referred to in the EC Opinion, Dodik would not have been able to block the formation of the government by not respecting the law, i.e. by rejecting the ANP,” Komšić concluded in his statement.
