Marking the 24th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide successfully organized

SARAJEVO, August 26 (FENA) - The final meeting of the Organizing Committee for marking the 24th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks "UN Safe Zone" in Srebrenica in July 1995 was held at the headquarter of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was concluded that organization of this commemoration was organized successfully thanks to the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo municipalities and other institutions and organizations that have provided support.

Organizational preparations for marking the 25th anniversary have already begun, as it is a large-scale activity that includes, in addition to the existing organization, the Organizing Committee Council.

“That is why we initiated the establishment of this Council at the state level, comprising Bosniak and Croat members of the BiH Presidency, one Bosniak member from the Council of Ministers of BiH, FBiH and RS Vice-Presidents, Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH. and others. In this regard, we have held several talks and we hope that we will not have any problems,” said Hamdija Fejzić, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for marking the 24th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks "UN Safe Zone" in Srebrenica in July 1995.

The president of the Association of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, Munira Subašić, presented the other initiative saying that the members of the Organizing Committee agreed to propose that the mothers of Srebrenica receive the Nobel Peace Prize. 

“In addition to this, a project in which we have proposed to name one street after the victims of genocide in 25 major cities of the world is in progress. We have received support for this project from Berlin, Washington and few other cities,” said Subašić, adding that politicians from all over the world will be invited on marking the 25th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide.

FBiH Government Representative Mirsad Bajrić confirmed that the FBiH Government will continue to help organizing the anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks “UN Safe Zone” in Srebrenica in every possible way.
