FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 26 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak received today in a farewell visit the EU Special Representative and Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Ambassador Lars Gunnar Wigemark.

The two officials discussed the current political situation and the continuation of the European path of BiH.

Minister Crnadak stressed that the government formation is of great importance for the continuation of the European path and implementation of reforms.

He hopes that the agreement, signed by SNSD, HDZ and SDA with the support of the European Union, would be implemented by September 5, as they had pledged, and that government would be formed soon.

Minister Crnadak emphasized, during the talks, that there is consensus in BiH regarding membership in the European Union, and that this is the most important foreign policy goal of BiH.

Speaking about the implementation of reforms and continuation of BiH's European path, the Minister stressed that the main responsibility is on domestic politicians, especially those who have pledged to form state-level government.

However, the Minister said that part of the responsibility is also on the side of the European Union, and that it is necessary for the EU to insist on the implementation of standards and European values.

Minister Crnadak pointed out that it is particularly important not to tolerate high level of corruption and that, with the support of the European Union, the electoral recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Report on the BiH General Elections 2018 be implemented as soon as possible.

Foreign Minister also believes that BiH's European path is unstoppable and that an action plan for the implementation of 14 recommendations from the European Commission's report will be adopted as soon as possible and that its implementation will begin, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
